Sugar Cookies and Sticky Fingers

Sugar Cookies recipe from HERE because my I had a brain fart and couldn't remember exactly just what and how much of every thing I needed to make the most basic cookie ever.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Prep Time:
15 Min
Cook Time:
10 Min
Ready In:
25 Min

  Original Recipe Yield 4 dozen

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Add Sugar to softened butter.

And beat until creamy.

Wisk egg and vanilla together and blend.

Add dry ingredients slllloooowly.

Clean up the floury mess.

Roll and cut.

Really, really enjoy putting your sister's lipstick on all skin and counter surfaces while your mother turns her back to put cookies in oven.

Make some pink frosting with 3/4 cups confectioners sugar, 2 TBS softened butter, 1/2 tsp vanilla,
1 TBS milk, 5 drops red food coloring and about 1/2 tsp veggie oil.

Don't forget to eat a spoonful while your mother is moving the cookies from the pan to a cooling rack.

Finally frost the unshapely cookies (or not). BTW my brain still hadn't recovered so I forgot to check for a recipe suited more for rolling and cutting. But hey, they are good dipped in milk or coffee and smothered with this wonderful stuff.

Why you shouldn't clean your bathroom

Playing catch up~

I've been MIA. But I haven't forgotten about all of you. I come over and do a quick glance through every so often.   Lack of rest curbed my enjoyment of blogging. For some reason my two year old needs her mommy somewhere between 12:30 and 3:30am every single night. So my hubby has to wake me up at 5:30 to go to our room where I'll be near the alarm clock that tortures me at 6:30 (about the same time that I finally get my spot warmed back up and begin to rest).

And we finally got it~
We purchased a box stove (cast iron, wood burning heater/stove) for supplementary heat and back up for power outages. Our main room is 996 sq ft and this stove heats 1000-1200 sq ft so if a repeat of '93 happens we should survive.Up here in The Great Icy Mountains I'm not leaving anything to chance.

Now for the two reasons I may never clean my bathroom again~

The glass in my shower is too tall for me to reach all the way to the top so I balance on the rolled edge of the clawfoot to clean it.
LuLu was looking the the car section of the classifieds in the bathroom floor (she is two so I guess she was window shopping).
I climbed on the tub to clean the glass and she looked up and was horrified! She gave me a talking to!

"Mama fall! Mama down NOW! Luly get MEAN! Spank your hinney!"

Momma won't fall baby, I just need to clean this.

"Luly get mean!"

And she came over and spatted me on my behind. Apparently the I'm not trying to be mean, but you have to obey, talk isn't believable to her.

You can't spank mommy but I'll get down. Ok? I was done by then anyway and trying not to laugh.

A few minutes later I was cleaning the toilet.....
she runs in....

"Hands sticky."

She was covered in a gross clear fluid with no smell....
What is this?

"Boogers"

No way! Surely her little nose couldn't do that???
Are you sure? Show mommy where you were when you got sticky.

We ran to the living room. It was everywhere. On the coffee table and in a slippery puddle in the floor...
What?

Then I saw it. A small bottle of - um, *cough*- warming 'lotion', That was on my bedside table.

Are your hands warm? I couldn't help but ask..

"Hands hot"

I laughed harder than I have in a long time. But now I'm convinced that~

The dangers of bathroom cleaning are too great to continue the practice.

Sorry Babe you'll have to lift that lid for cleaning from now on.

Cheers!! Happy Baby!!

I am an aunt!!!

I've never been an aunt.

I've had to do all the rule making.

Now I get to do the rule breaking.

So What do you do for hours upon hours of waiting for the cousin you've been hearing about for nine months?

Show everyone how you'll look when there's a baby in your tummy.

Then when you break your mothers resolve, and the labor and delivery room floor is now an appropriate place to lay and draw..........

make beautiful greeting cards for your laboring aunt.

And if the monitor still looks like gentle waves instead of a hurricane

you.........

eat an entire box of Sugar Babies (except the one you grudgingly give your aunt Jess and the few that Mommy took when you weren't looking).

And after a full day of excitement, patience, impatience, and fighting over the one toy you didn't both get for Christmas........you get this........

Potty ups and downs and a little peek into my world

In case you didn't know- putting waste in the proper location  is optional. My toddler teaches me something new everyday.

My  big girl may choose to use her new outfit as a disposal.

And her pretty ruffle panties as a dump *pun intended*.

Sweet Christmas tights with shimmery snowflakes are not very absorbent.

Oddly enough- this behavior, blessedly, only happens at home.

The time-out-wall may be permanently shadowed by my curly top girl. But that was yesterday. And today is a new day. Poop-a-potty (her announcement that she needs to poop)has already been successful this morning!

No time-out-wall today? Maybe...Just maybe..

The poor girl already goes straightaway to her spot to sit and pout if she has to be changed.

I wanted to share a few tidbits of my life with you.

My sisters. The belly is my upcoming niece Charity Hope. The sweet girl on the left is Jess. We have become best friends.
The one with the belly and cute cheekbones is DD my baby sister. The poor girl isn't due till Jan 18th! I changed her diapers and now will gladly change the ones on her daughter.

This guy, looking a bit like Zac Brown these days, is the love of my life. I can't say enough about him. He is the most wonderful husband. And the girls will probably never know how blessed they are that he is their father.

While surfing the net with my hubby for a prospective hot rod (for him), I discovered this.
The Henry J. Love at first sight. I want to find one - keep the white walls, put in a scary fast motor and drag race it!
If you laughed at this -as did my husband- don't bother to tell me. It won't change my mind.

So there you have it. Poop, blessings, and dreams, It doesn't get any better than that, ladies.

maybe more is more?

More is less?? What if more is more?

She has on occasion wanted more than a few pairs of pants on-
or maybe three or four dresses.
She might even wear several complete outfits at the same time.

So what's a girl like her to do- but wear all her bows at once!

I'm not sure if she has a fear of commitment to one article of clothing for an entire day-
maybe she just really loves the 'layered' look?
Either way, she is my little doll!

Now if I could just sway her in the direction of the potty! That would be great.

Master Bath

Here are some pics of my very undecorated, bare bones master bath. But hey, it is no longer under construction!

And here is a picture of the beautiful ride around Highland Lake taking Alex to school.

And here is a picture of LuLu, just 'cause she's so darn cute.
